Cold Weather Kit Distro
Most of the time during extreme weather or temperatures, we are told by our cities, news outlets, and leadership to “stay inside”. Unfortunately, there are many folks who do not have a place to go to avoid the outdoors. Freezing temperatures can be extremely hard to live through for folks who may not easily have access to consistent, warm, indoor space. All people deserve dignity, respect, and comfort, and we’re grateful to exercise the power we have as individuals to help keep our neighbors safe. We collectively have the resources to steward efforts like our Cold Weather Kit distributions, which can really help folks get through the colder days and nights.
We try to commit to doing these distros at least once per winter. We also try to have enough helpers involved to be consistent. It can be hard for folks outside to not know when resources may be available to them, so setting a goal and letting people know it can be helpful.
If you want to steward a Cold Weather Kit distro in collaboration with Celebrate845 somewhere in New York’s “Hudson Valley” region, please contact us! If you do it autonomously and/or somewhere else, we root for you, hope this guide helps you, and are here to support as needed. We hope that anyone pursuing this effort can embody a “solidarity not charity” mindset (read about that here).
