to organize, recognize, & celebrate
via pop-up events throughout New York’s Hudson Valley.
Statistics show that many populations of people are underrepresented and underpaid in fine arts spaces such as galleries, museums, performance venues, and more throughout the world. These populations include but are not limited to: women, people of color, queer folx, trans folx, nonbinary folx, disabled folx, poor folx, etc.
Founded in 2018 under a different name, Celebrate845 aims to provide platform and opportunity for marginalized creatives to share their work and to create space for the community to come together, share experiences via the arts, and learn from one another while centering those who are underrepresented. Over time, we have expanded our mission to be more intersectional and include more people, as we are mightier when we are together.
We prioritize paying participating artists, not taking commission on sold work, working with venues that are like-minded, sourcing supplies and food locally and consciously, and paying collaborators for their efforts. We are committed to holding space, amplifying those in our area, and helping to make and keep the Hudson Valley creative community excellent.
