SOLSTICE WALL CALENDAR
Cover art by James Smith, they/them
This project is now complete (and it was so beautiful). Read about it below.
Celebrate845 created a 2022 - 2023 solstice wall calendar (starting on June 21) that features both visual art and works of writing/poetry created by marginalized artists living or working in the Hudson Valley region. Each artist involved (26 total) were given a $50 honorarium for their work and the calendars themselves help us share their work with our community. All funds raised through sales of the calendars will go toward future Celebrate845 programming, all of which prioritizes keeping participation costs minimal for artists, collaborating with like-minded venues and spaces, buying supplies locally, not taking commissions on sold artworks, paying collaborators, and circulating funds back into our community.
SPECS: these calendars are 9 x 12" and printed on high-quality paper. There are 12 months included (June 2022 - May 2023) and the dates are listed Monday - Sunday. The calendar highlights important dates according to astrological, Jewish, Pagan, and other "non-traditional" calendars and also highlights months of significance. The month includes one work of visual art and one piece of writing, all of which were created by marginalized artists living or working in the Hudson Valley region who were paid for their work. Thank you to ProPrinters in Hudson NY for assisting with printing and print costs. Designed by Lee Worden.
