#TEAMCELEBRATE

Get to know the awesome folks that help us get it done across the 845.
Picture
Jamie Sanin (they/she) is a visual artist, educator, and organizer raised in Orange County NY. She holds a degree in Visual Arts Education and also studied dance, music, and theatre from a young age. Each experience provided them not only with a breadth of cultural knowledge but also the opportunity to consider the importance of community care via accessible arts, for which she is an advocate. Jamie's personal, professional, and creative work is centered around social justice, collaboration, and joy and uses the arts as the vessel to foster community. Jamie is the proud founder of Celebrate845 and is so grateful to be a part of the creative community in the 845. "Big love, big appreciation, Black/Queer/Trans Joy/Lives Matter."

Tiera Nolcox (she/her) | As a Newburgh native and resident, Tiera has always used poetry and short stories as an emotional outlet. She shares her words to both inspire and connect those seeking comfort and empowerment within art. She first got involved with Celebrate in 2018 performing poetry at WOMXNFEST (for the first time in front of a big audience!). She has been sharing more since at open mics, local rallies, and in Celebrate's zines. Tiera is on a path to make sure her voice and all Black voices are finally heard loud and fucking clear. Despite what has been thrown at her, she only wants to extend kindness in this word but is prepared to speak up and fight for what's right, so don't dare mistake her kindness for weakness.

Lee Worden (they/them) | Under the umbrella of Firefly Resin, Lee aims to create things that make you glow. Accessories, stuffed creatures, spells. Any medium they can get their hands on really. They are also a proud military spouse and dog parent who drinks an absurd amount of tea. Lee first came across Celebrate when a friend was featured in one of their art shows. Their only goal is to be a force for good, and strongly believes that together we can be.

Sasasa (all pronouns) is queer artist working & creating in the Hudson Valley. When she isn’t at her real job—making costumes & running wardrobe on theater & dance productions—she’s running around, trying to keep up with her many interests because she just can’t seem to sit still for too long. Her artwork, ranging from digital illustration to soft sculpture, features bright colors, uncomfortable imagery, and the ugly emotions we tend to squirrel away.

Her involvement with Celebrate began by pure stroke of fate & carried on through continued involvement in events and gallery shows. She takes great pride & pleasure in being a member of the Celebrate team & admires all of the amazing work they have & continue to do for the marginalized arts community. She is sure that she isn’t just speaking for herself when she says that Celebrate has helped boost her art career, in more ways than one; and for that, she is eternally grateful.

Colton Thorn (CT) (they/them) is a singer-songwriter and board certified music therapist returning to the Hudson Valley from Philadelphia. They love running, spending time in nature, reading, and wiggling around, and usually can be found cuddling their pup. They currently teach children guitar, voice, ukulele, and piano through Harmony Garden Music Center. Colton comes to #TeamCelebrate after doing many virtual open mics when beginning to move back to the Hudson Valley. They immediately became smitten with the space, culture of celebration, and felt right at home with this new community. Colton hopes to add continued support to the open mics, even having the opportunity to host one!! They hope to continue to bounce around on the internet in future open mics and eventually in person events.

SPONSORS

Shouts to those support us, who work with us, who host us, & who help us grow.

Want to sponsor us in 2023? Please contact us.

For us, a sponsorship is usually an in-kind trade agreement where an organization, business, individual, etc. provides us with something that we need and, in exchange, we promote them on our website, in e-blasts, and on social media for the year. If you feel that you have something to offer us or are interested in what our needs are, please reach out. Things we typically need include print materials, access to space, mutual aid materials or funds, monetary donations, retreat space or food for our Team, and more. We are looking to build mutually beneficial relationships and not just ones that "check a box" or intend to exploit us or those we may represent.
