TIP JAR BAZAAR
This project has come to an end, but let us know what you thought & thanks to all supporters, creators, and friends who helped make it great <3
We loved TIP JAR BAZAAR: a virtual street festival that aimed to connect our community with local creatives while specifically moving funds (or "tips") to participants- all of whom are somewhere under the vast n' lovely trans / non-binary / gender non-conforming umbrella (click to learn more about this vocab!). This effort helped folks to make new friends and to continue building Hudson Valley-wide community.
For 1 month, visitors could support each participant via:
This website, which featured everyone (like a street festival) and let visitors support creators directly by purchasing things they make or just straight up sending funds. Celebrate845 did not take any commission and Tip Jar set up so visitors can support makers directly.
Social media posts, which showed off each participant and tagged them so you can follow and amplify to your people. Follow us on Instagram and/or Facebook, then find the posts and support these folx!
Entering our raffle, which featured some great prizes by local makers and allies! Raffle tickets were sliding scale $0 - $5 each and all proceeds were split between all participants. We encouraged those who are more impacted by systems of harm and who hold more marginalized identities to pay less, and encouraged those with more means and more privilege to pay more.
Tip Jar Le Soir, a recorded Instagram Live chat that had participants show off their goods, answer viewer questions, and connect more deeply from wherever they are. Click here to watch it!
*Are you a marginalized maker who missed this open call? Make sure to sign up to receive our emails (here) and/or to follow us on social media for future opportunities. If you are in immediate need, we recommend applying for the Newburgh LGBTQ+ Center's Queer Relief Fund (here).
PARTICIPANTS
TIP JAR RAFFLE
In an effort to raise extra funds for all participants, Celebrate845 is holding a raffle that will be drawn at the end of Tip Jar Bazaar's run (after October 16). All proceeds will be split between all participants and all prizes are donated by local makers and allies.
Prizes include:
- a $20 gift card & snack bag from Harana Market (Woodstock)
- a 4-quart container of bone broth from Common Table (Kingston)
- a $50 gift card from Thrift 2 Fight (Tivoli)
- an incense 3-pack from Artemisia Negra (Kingston)
- a mini-handmade plush and handmade earrings from Firefly Resin (Kerhonkson)
- a Celebrate845 merch pack
...and more!
Raffle tickets are sliding scale $0 - $5 per ticket. Since this is a fundraiser for impacted members of our community, we hope that folks are able to donate in exchange for their tickets, but also don't want to enforce a "pay to play" requirement and want to hold space for those who are not part of this event and are also impacted. We encourage those who are more impacted by systems of harm and who hold multiple marginalized identities to pay less, and encourage those with more means, privilege, and comfort to pay more. Do what is comfortable, do what is possible, do what is sustainable, do what feels true.
Tip our admin team if called!
Huge shouts to Firefly Resin (Project Lead), James Smith (Graphic Designer), & Jamie Sanin (Producer)
